We Don't Need No Education (cuts)

a recent piece by Paul Krugman that looks at Romney's plan to cut teachers, firefighters, and police folk--under the guise of making government smaller.

of course, people are entitled to vote for whomever they want--I just hope they know what they're getting w/ Mitt: end of Medicaid, reduced safeguards for our families (EPA, FDA funding to be cut), and cuts in public services are sure to be felt by most in the middle class (teachers, cops, and firefighters actually do provide service to our community, unlike, say a hedge fund manager).

At some point, we need to repair our roads, fix our bridges, and educate our kids--and we can't cut our way to these things. Check out spending by previous Presidents, incl Republicans, during tough economic times--it increases! I know, hard to believe. Heck, Reagan raised taxes close to a dozen times while in office. Back-handed kudos to Grover Norquist and the like for getting people to glom onto this false narrative of cutting taxes will make things better for anybody other than the already wealthy (see Ireland for what the Romney plan looks like in practice--you might want a pint handy b/c it ain't pretty).
